Graphic Bud's Member Sign-Up

Before you fill out this form you must read this information. We are in the middle of weeding the current list of members to make room for new applications. Many current members have not contacted us in months and are subject to being removed. Applications will be stored by date submitted. That is why it is very important that you read the following information to make sure that Graphic Buds is where you really want to be.

We are NOT a webring. This is not a club or a place to exchange graphics. We are a workshop group. We learn new techniques together and help each other. This forum is for people who want to learn, make friends, help each other and be active with the other members. We will revoke membership of those who show no sign of wanting to participate or show signs of just wanting to find some new graphics. Each member's work is copyrighted to that member. Violations will be dealt with.

We are a friendly group of people, but we have found ourselves having to be a little tougher with signups because of the number of people who have asked to join without understanding what our group is really about. In keeping with this, we do ask that you fill out the comment section of our form and tell us why you want to become a member. We want to make sure we are actually continuing to provide a place that is filled with busy people learning and sharing. There is never any requirement to do a Challenge or a Tutorial, but we do require some participation on the forum. You may simply want to comment on work done by others, or maybe just drop by the Main forum and chat, but we do need to know that you are an active member in some manner.

The above comments in no way reflect on those members that we know have various reasons for not being able to be active all the time. Some members have very busy lives, health problems, computer problems, etc. These members tell someone in the admin what their situation is so that we understand why we haven't seen them for a long time.

We have only three requirements for the members at Graphic Buds. The first one is that you place the Graphic Buds logo on your website, if you have one. (Having a website is not required for membership.) This does not mean you have to place it on your main page. Many members have a "Memberships" page where they place these kinds of logos. We offer three sizes of the membership logo, so one should suit your website. This also needs to be done in a timely manner. Please do not place our logo on a webring page, as we are not a webring. What is a timely manner? We know that many of our members have very busy lives, so we are flexible with the time. We do feel that one month is plenty of time to place the logo on a website.

The second requirement is that you participate on the forums. If you are not very active on the forums, you will be considered a semi-active member, but you will retain your membership priviledges. If you are not active at all for more than two consequetive months, you will be removed from membership, but you will still be able to reply as a member when you find you will be able to spend more time on the Graphic Buds forums.

The last requirement is that you must have a computer. The purpose of Graphic Buds is to learn and exchange ideas on how to create graphics not to trade them. If you only connect to the internet through WebTV or some other internet appliance, then there is no way that you could learn anything about graphics since you will not have the tools to create them.

As far as online memberships go, we feel these three requirements are not much to ask. If these three conditions are not met, and we have had no email contact from you explaining why you cannot fulfill these simple conditions, your name will be removed as a member. Also subject to removal is a total lack of any participation for more than 2 months, again without any email contact as to why (be it a busy life or health problems) you haven't been on the forums. We will be happy to reinstate any member once these requirements have been met.
