Let's Draw & Make Stained Glass: Interesting Patterns

Please read first!

Here are the patterns I had been working on before September 11.  For each one, I made my own stained glass image.  Feel free to click on that to see the full size image.  I put them on black backgrounds so the glass would stand out.  If you don't have Paint Shop Pro or you don't know how to work in layers, you will have to download the gif file to make stained glass from.  Remember, if you download the gif file, you have to make your own soder lines.  Do this by:

Click on a black line anywhere on the image.  Go to Selections/Modify/Select Similar.  This will select all the black lines.  Next: Go to Selections/Modify/Expand.  Expand by 1 pixel.  Add a new layer and flood fill the selected area with white and then apply the Pewter preset from Blade Pro.

Here are some specific directions for some of these designs:

Wedding Rings & Rose:  For the background/Rose/Ribbon and Leaves, select the black lines.  Go to Selections/Modify/Select Similar.  Add a new layer.  Go to Selections/Modify/Expand by 1 pixel.  Flood fill with white.  Apply Blade Pro Pewter Preset.  Go back to the background layer to select sections to fill with glass.  To fill with glass, select section.  Copy glass pattern of choice.  Then go back to the pattern and then Edit/Paste Into Selection.

Rings:  Do each ring separately.  For the black lines, flood fill with white and apply Blade Pro Gold Shiny Preset.  Then select the inside after copying glass pattern of choice.  Go to Edit/Paste Into Selection.

Pitcher & Basin:  Select the black lines on the background layer.  To make sure you get them all, go to Selections/Modify/Select Similar.  Add a new layer.  Selections/Modify/Expand by 1 pixel.  Flood fill with white.  Apply Blade Pro Pewter preset.  Go back to the background layer.  You can now pick your glass patterns.  Apply by copying them, selecting the area to be filled and then going to Edit/Paste Into Selection.

The Flowers:  On both the flower layers, just select the black lines, flood fill with white and then apply the Blade Pro Pewter preset.  Do not expand these lines.  Use glass per choice to finish up the flowers.

Bear & Flowers:  Select the black lines on the bear layer.  To make sure you get them all, go to Selections/Modify/Select Similar.  Add a new layer.  Selections/Modify/Expand by 1 pixel.  Flood fill with white.  Apply Blade Pro Pewter preset.  Go back to the bear layer.  Use glass of choice and fill by copying the glass patterns then selecting the area they will go.  Then Edit/Paste Into Selection.  You can fill the eyes and the nose with a glass pattern.  For the mouth, select it with the magic wand and then:  Effects/3D/Inner Bevel/Metallic Preset.

For all other layers of this pattern, do not expand the outside lines.  Just select them, flood fill with white and apply the Blade Pro Pewter preset.  For the flowers stems that hang down, you can select them, leave them green and then apply the Blade Pro Pewter preset.

Wandering Jew:  The fine stems are in yellow. Use the same method to select them, but do NOT expand them by 1 pixel. Just fill them with white and use Blade Pro.
