Getting Your "Fill" of PSP7; page 4

Your class assignment, after you finish looking over these last few pages, will be to create a scene using the flood fill options to make your background.  Your image size will be 400x400.

In the images below, I have combined the Summer Field pattern with the Terrain texture .  This is a guide only.  You need to be creative and choose your own styles.  (But I have to say that the Terrain texture gives you great clouds in the sky!)

I left the image on the left, Fig. 13, unflattened so you could see how the transparency effects your working image.

On the right, Fig. 14, is how it looks when flattened.  Aren't those fantastic clouds?

I used the selection tool to select the green on the lower section of the image.  Then I used the Effects/Artistic/ Topography, with the settings shown in Fig.15.

I loved the clouds just the way they were, so I went to work with PSP7 tubes to make a nice spring-looking image.  I have to say this next part.  I really like most of the tubes that come with PSP, but their trees aren't the best.  But since I wanted to do these lessons using just what comes with PSP7, I used their Summer Trees.tub for my final image.   ***A great trick to Jasc's tubes - lower the opacity of the tube layer to 90 %... Softens the abrupt edges and allows ambient color to show through, tying your layers together***.  tip by Laura.

I also used the new Lawn tube.  These I really like!  Notice the brown areas?  That's the new Dirt tube.  Another new tube is the Dandelions, both large and small ones.  A great addition for a spring image!

The Butterflies, Beetles and Grass were part of PSP6.  Don't forget to add a new layer for each of your tube images so you can move them around.

Here is a grass tip.  Add your new layer for the grass.  In order to keep your sanity, just work on this one layer for the grass.  I started adding grass at size 40.  Then I added more at 30, then 20 and finally 10.  You want the different sizes to it looks more natural.

Extra touches to the final image was done with a few other tools.  I used the Deform tool to stretch the dirt out.  I used the Eraser with different sizes and lower opacity to blend the lawn and dirt layers by either working on the dirt or working on the lawn.  I added some Air Brushing to the green areas with a darker green solid color, opacity 30%, different brush sizes.  Less than 100% density is a good trick with this too.

Hey!  Don't run off and start your class image yet.  There are a few more options to consider before you make your choices.
