PSP7 Basic Class: For this lesson, send in a screen capture,

NEVER EVER name a folder on your computer Fonts. Windows will look at it as a system folder.
The Font Charting program
is a very simple little thing that doesn't even install to your system.
Creat a folder called Font Chart, then unzip the Font Charting into that
folder. Right click on the .exe and create a shortcut. Cut
and paste this short cut to your startup menu.
![]() You can now create folders in your font charting to help organize fonts that you have or you find. I have mine setup as type or style so I can easily go to a particular folder for a certain kind of project. |

I even have subfolders in my Font Chart
subfolders!
Dingbats need subfolders! |
When you first run the program, it comes up looking like this. On the left is the fonts you have installed. To view them, scroll down that list. On the right is your Font Chart folder with your sub folders. I'm going to give you a tip that will save you some bad language.

When you scroll down the list of uninstalled fonts, don't double click on the folder the first time to open it. Click on it once and all the folder list will drop down. Now double click on the folder you want to open. I've found that if I double click the first time, it jumps me up into the folder above Font Charting!

Now I can view my uninstalled fonts and see what they look like for
every keystroke.
I can decide if I want to use the font or not easily this way.
And I can also take a good look at my installed fonts too for every keystroke.
Here are your choices if you click on the add button.

Remember, with PSP you don't need to install a font to use it. Just double click on the font you want to use, then minimize it. It will now be available for use in PSP. So if I knew I wanted to use an animal dingbat, I would just go to that folder and find the font I wanted to use. Then I would double click on it to bring up its window, then minimize it.
