Making A Country Bed
The Bedpost: Page 2
Do your bedpost in the Section order listed here.  It will save you time and grief.  In each section, the directions for the very first layer listed will be the same for the rest of the layers in that section unless you see purple text.

Section 1: Rounded layer parts.  (5 layers) Set wood pattern at 50%, Angle 0.

Layer 04: bottom ball.  Make that layer active.  Click on it with the magic wand.  Flood fill with the wood pattern.  Leave selected.  Effects/3D/Inner Bevel/Pillow2.  Invert the selection.  Effects/3D/Outer Bevel/Bed Rounds.  Deselect.

Layer 14: vase form.  Make that layer active.  Click on it with the magic wand.  Flood fill with the wood pattern.  Leave selected.  Effects/3D/Inner Bevel/Pillow2.  Invert the selection.  Effects/3D/Outer Bevel/Bed Rounds.  Deselect.

Layer 18: vase form.  Make that layer active.  Click on it with the magic wand.  Flood fill with the wood pattern.  Leave selected.  Effects/3D/Inner Bevel/Pillow2.  Invert the selection.  Effects/3D/Outer Bevel/Bed Rounds.  Deselect.

Layer 20: vase form.  Make that layer active.  Click on it with the magic wand.  Flood fill with the wood pattern.  Leave selected.  Effects/3D/Inner Bevel/Pillow2.  Invert the selection.  Effects/3D/Outer Bevel/Bed Rounds.  Deselect.

Layer 26: top ball.  Make that layer active.  Click on it with the magic wand.  Flood fill with the wood pattern.  Leave selected.  Effects/3D/Inner Bevel/Pillow2.  Invert the selection.  Effects/3D/Outer Bevel/Bed Rounds.  Deselect.

Section 2: Larger Horizontal layer parts.  (3 layers) Leave wood pattern at 50%, Angle 0.

Layer 11: top of post.  Make that layer active.  Click on it with the magic wand.  Flood fill with the wood pattern.  Brightness/Contrast: -25/10.  Invert the selection.  Effects/3D/Outer Bevel/Bed Rounds.  Deselect.

Layer 12: oval.  Make that layer active.  Click on it with the magic wand.  Flood fill with the wood pattern.  Invert the selection.  Effects/3D/Outer Bevel/Bed Rounds.  Deselect.

Layer 13: oval.  Make that layer active.  Click on it with the magic wand.  Flood fill with the wood pattern.  Invert the selection.  Effects/3D/Outer Bevel/Bed Rounds.  Deselect.

Section 3: SmallerHorizontal layer parts.  (15 layers) Set wood pattern at 25%, Angle 0.
Note:  This is by far the largest number of layers, 15, to be done the same way.  Almost all these layers are the horizontal square looking pieces.  If you look at the template, you really don't have to refer back to this section for those small square pieces.  There are 12 layers in this section called square.  That leaves just 3 in this section that are not called square.

Layer 01: very bottom foot.  Make that layer active.  Click on it with the magic wand.  Flood fill with the wood pattern.  Invert the selection.  Effects/3D/Outer Bevel/Bed Rounds.  Deselect.

Layer 02: square.  Make that layer active.  Click on it with the magic wand.  Flood fill with the wood pattern.  Invert the selection.  Effects/3D/Outer Bevel/Bed Rounds.  Deselect.

Layer 03: square.  Make that layer active.  Click on it with the magic wand.  Flood fill with the wood pattern.  Invert the selection.  Effects/3D/Outer Bevel/Bed Rounds.  Deselect.

Layer 05: square.  Make that layer active.  Click on it with the magic wand.  Flood fill with the wood pattern.  Invert the selection.  Effects/3D/Outer Bevel/Bed Rounds.  Deselect.

Layer 06: square.  Make that layer active.  Click on it with the magic wand.  Flood fill with the wood pattern.  Invert the selection.  Effects/3D/Outer Bevel/Bed Rounds.  Deselect.

Layer 07: square.  Make that layer active.  Click on it with the magic wand.  Flood fill with the wood pattern.  Invert the selection.  Effects/3D/Outer Bevel/Bed Rounds.  Deselect.

Layer 08: bottom of post.  Make that layer active.  Click on it with the magic wand.  Flood fill with the wood pattern.  Brightness/Contrast: -50/10  Invert the selection.  Effects/3D/Outer Bevel/Bed Rounds.  Deselect.

Layer 15: square.  Make that layer active.  Click on it with the magic wand.  Flood fill with the wood pattern.  Invert the selection.  Effects/3D/Outer Bevel/Bed Rounds.  Deselect.

Layer 16: oval.  Make that layer active.  Click on it with the magic wand.  Flood fill with the wood pattern.  Invert the selection.  Effects/3D/Outer Bevel/Bed Rounds.  Deselect.

Layer 17: square.  Make that layer active.  Click on it with the magic wand.  Flood fill with the wood pattern.  Invert the selection.  Effects/3D/Outer Bevel/Bed Rounds.  Deselect.

Layer 19: square.  Make that layer active.  Click on it with the magic wand.  Flood fill with the wood pattern.  Invert the selection.  Effects/3D/Outer Bevel/Bed Rounds.  Deselect.

Layer 21: square.  Make that layer active.  Click on it with the magic wand.  Flood fill with the wood pattern.  Invert the selection.  Effects/3D/Outer Bevel/Bed Rounds.  Deselect.

Layer 22: square.  Make that layer active.  Click on it with the magic wand.  Flood fill with the wood pattern.  Invert the selection.  Effects/3D/Outer Bevel/Bed Rounds.  Deselect.

Layer 24: square.  Make that layer active.  Click on it with the magic wand.  Flood fill with the wood pattern.  Invert the selection.  Effects/3D/Outer Bevel/Bed Rounds.  Deselect.

Layer 25: square.  Make that layer active.  Click on it with the magic wand.  Flood fill with the wood pattern.  Invert the selection.  Effects/3D/Outer Bevel/Bed Rounds.  Deselect.

Section 4: Vertical layer parts.  (3 layers) Set wood pattern at 50%, Angle 90.

Layer 09: rightside post.  Make that layer active.  Click on it with the magic wand.  Flood fill with the wood pattern.  Invert the selection.  Effects/3D/Outer Bevel/Bed Rounds.  Deselect.

Layer 10: leftside post.  Make that layer active.  Click on it with the magic wand.  Flood fill with the wood pattern.  Brightness/Contrast: 50/10.  Invert the selection.  Effects/3D/Outer Bevel/Bed Rounds.  Deselect.

Layer 23: straight pole.  Make that layer active.  Click on it with the magic wand.  Flood fill with the wood pattern.  Effects/Texture Effects/Blinds.(see screen capture below for settings.)  Invert the selection.  Effects/3D/Outer Bevel/Bed Rounds.  Deselect.

Hey!  You are almost done!

The only thing left to do is to go back to all those various horizontal square wood layers and add a pinch of drop shadow to each.  You should be able to do that standing on your head!  First thing, pick a shade of dark brown for the drop shadow color.fig.1Second thing, use the settings shown in fig.2.  Third and most important thing.......make it easy on yourself and use the layer palette to do this.  Simply start at the top of the layer palette and click on each layer that says square.  Then add the drop shadow.  You don't even have to look at your image! fig.3.

There are 12 layers that say square all together.

After saving your layered bedpost image as a psp file, Merge Visible Layers and export as a Picture Tube.  On your bed image, add a new layer for each bedpost as you put on the tubed version.  After you have all 4 on, you can delete the merged template bedpost layers and name your 4 new wooden bedpost layers.  Here are my suggested sizes to apply the posts as a tube, but you may choose according to your own tastes.

Front Left Bedpost:  100%
Front Right Bedpost:  95%
Back Left Bedpost:    90%
Back Right Bedpost:  85%


Now for the slots on the bedposts for the boards to go into.
