Making A Country Bed

If you are using light wood, use a dark shade of Brown as the Solid Color on your top Styles swatch.  If your wood is dark, use a lighter shade of brown.  Set the bottom Styles swatch to Solid Color Black.  Click on the Draw Tool.  Use the settings shown below.  Draw a narrow rectangle that extends above and below the baseboard.  Convert to a Raster Layer.  On your Layer Palette, name this layer post shadow 1.  Arrange your layers as shown: The front right bedpost and the post shadow 1 has to go below the baseboard layers.

With the Selection tool, select a line that is the mid point of the shadow.  Make each layer of the baseboard active, hitting delete on each active layer.  On the post shadow layer, apply the Gaussian Blur with the settings below.

Make the sideboard shadow in the same manner.
The post shadow 2 and the back left bedpost get moved below the sideboard layers.
Apply the Gaussian Blur to post shadow 2.

Click on the Preset Shapes.  Choose Button 037, Retain style, Create as vector.
Draw a small ball on the front left bedpost.  Convert to a Raster Layer.
Copy and paste as a new layer on the front right bedpost.

Click on the Draw Tool again, same settings.  Draw a rectangle as shown below.
Convert to a Raster Layer.  Apply Gaussian Blur.  Copy and paste as a new layer on the front right bedpost.
Name your ball and ball shadow layers.  Move the shadows under the balls.
