Making Doors: Number 3
It's time to see what's behind door number 3. This time I'm using
numeral
8 from the Boxes.ttf.
Open a new transparent image, 300x400.
Once again I'm going to use
the wood patterns rotated 90 degrees.
Make sure your text is set to Vector/Antialias.
After you stretch out your text, deselect and convert to a Rastor
Layer.
Use the Magic Wand and select the background.
Hold down the Shift key on the keyboard and select inside the
outer door frame.
Invert the Selection.

Effects/3D/Inner Bevel. Use the Soft Edge Preset.

Now flip your Styles swatches so the darker wood is on top.
Use the Magic Wand and click inside the first outer door frame.
Selections/Modify/Expand. Expand by 2 pixels.
Flood fill with the dark wood pattern. Leave this area
selected and Invert the Selection.
Below are three different versions of the door using different Outer
Bevel Presets.
You can choose one of these or create your own preset.
Now to fix up the two inner door panels.
