PSP7 comes with some nice wood patterns, but you can also use any of
the ones below. They are the 5 that I use the most often in making
furniture. They are all full size, so just right click on them and
save them.

| For the patterns above, here is what I do when working in PSP. I open all the patterns I want to use and switch between. I use the magnify tool, reduce them to a very small size, then stack them out of the way in the upper left-hand corner of my work area. |

| Here are the wood patterns available in PSP7. I like the Stained Wood the best. If you aren't sure how to use the new options in PSP7 with the Flood Fill tool, then you need to do the tutorial. |

I'm starting with something from Wingdings. We are going
to make a really great looking filing cabinet. The size to start
with is a guide, and you can make yours bigger or smaller. Open a
new transparent image, 300x400. We are going to use the number
5 from the Wingding.ttf.
| Set your Styles up before you do anything else. Both of the top swatches get set to your wood pattern/patterns. The texture swatches should be set to Null. You can use the same wood pattern for both swatches, or you can use two different ones that compliment each other. | ![]() |
Click on the Text tool and this box will come up. Find the Wingdings font. Set the size at 36. Since this is vector text, there will be no degrading of the image as we resize it while it is a vector. Note the Styles and Textures on the left. The light wood is the Stroke, the darker wood is the Fill. Both Textures are set at Null. On the bottom, Vector and Antialias are checked. Choose numeral 5.

Go to Layers and Convert to Raster Layer.
Now you are ready to really fix this cabinet
up!
