Making Windows

The basic window is very simple to make, so a good part of this tutorial will cover some extras such as drop shadows, scenery behind the window and making mini blinds.

For the first window I'm using the semi-colin ( ;) from the Boxes.ttf.  I'm also using two different wood patterns as shown in this image:

You should have picked up the 5 wood patterns from the first tutorial, Filing Cabinets.

As shown in the text capture, the lighter wood pattern will be the Stroke, and the darker wood pattern will be the Fill.  Once again, make sure that Vector/Antialias is checked.

Keeping your text tool active, stretch out your window.

Once it is sized as you want it, Select None and Convert to Raster Layer.

Use the Magic Wand to click on the background.  Hold down the Shift key on the Keyboard.
Click in each empty area inside the frame, there are 4.
Now Invert the Selection.

Effects/3D/Inner Bevel.  Use the Frame Preset.
