Ready to say OK!

Now that everything has been set up in Page Properties, I'm ready to say ok.  I've set up my colors to be used and picked my background image.  Oh, and you did have to browse for the background image.  It is helpful to have gathered all the images you are going to be using on your web page into one folder.  That way you will have a much easier time browsing to that folder each time you add an image.

My page comes up and I'm ready to start adding things.  First I'll add a heading.  I've already set the text up to be black, but there are other things to change with the text.  I'm going to change the text size to 24, the font to Comic Sans, and use the first A to make it bold.  The second A is for Italic.  Between the font size and the A is the color if you want to change anything.  You can highlight different parts of the text on the page and make them different colors or sizes when you do that.

An important text bit of information here.  If you don't choose a font, the composer automatically picks what is called Variable.  It's a lot like Times New Roman.  You have to keep in mind that if you get too fancy picking text, many people may not get to see your page the way you do.  If you want to be sure of what they will see, stick with the common Window fonts.  Many times I will just allow the text to be Variable and it looks fine.  If I am giving lot's of information that I want to be presented in a crisp, clear manner, I choose Arial.  If I want the text to be a bit fun, I choose Comic Sans.

Now, in some cases I do use a fancy font.  Tyger's pages are an example of this.  I use the Blood of Dracula font for certain areas, but I make sure on the first page to offer a download of that font.  If you want to use a fancy font, offer it right away as a download.  Now, if you do, make sure you zip the font.  Netscape surfers have problems downloading fonts that aren't zipped.  I found this out the hard way with complaints on my B5 fonts page!

The Center Command
Use it when you want to have anything in the center of your pages.  Don't try using the space bar to set it up or you will end up with problems from browser to browser.
