The Better Notepad

Ok...I can hear you asking me......what's up with this better Notepad thing?  Windows comes with a stripped down version of the full Notepad.  I don't know why since it's not a big file.  So if I've done a system wipe, I make sure that the better Notepad gets installed very soon because I've come to appreciate it.  There are two large screen captures that will show you some of the features.

Installation:  Download the notepad.zip file.  Unzip it to the Windows folder.  It's going to ask you if you want to overwrite the existing file, 35kb I believe with this 400 something kb file.  You say yes.  Now if you're not sure if you are going to enjoy this version better, backup your exisiting Notepad.exe to a folder somewhere else.

If you don't have Notepad on your startup menu, you can pull it up quickly by going to Start, Run and typing in the word notepad.

Bring up your Notepad to check a few options.  Go to Options, then Preferences.
Make sure that everything on the General tab is checked.

Now go to the Associations tab.  On that one you can just click on defaults.
If you want to add other file types, you can do this manually.
