Add a new layer. Use your fringe tube again. Now click on the deform tool. Hold down the Ctrl key on the keyboard and push to the left, inward, at the bottom right corner. Look at the image below to judge how much you want to deform. Do not sharpen yet after the deform.
Rotate this layer 45 degrees to the left.
Make sure to uncheck All Layers.
Now go to Effects/Sharpen.
Move this piece up to the left corner.
Make sure this layer is arranged on top.
Zoom in. Use the freehand select
to select the right side of this piece.
Cut and paste it as a new layer.
Rotate it to the right 15 degrees.
Use the Unsharp Mask on it and then move
this layer to the bottom.
Go back to your first corner piece layer.
Select the left side of the piece.
Cut and paste it as a new layer.
Rotate it to the left 15 degrees.
Use the Unsharp Mask and move this layer
to the bottom.
