The Object Selector/Node Edit

The Object Selector, the Node Editing tool.  It's called both.  I think I can clear up some of the confusion.  Objects are made up of Vectors in PSP.  Vectors have Nodes.  So you select the Object with this tool, you edit the Nodes using this tool.  You will also need to have your Tool Options window open.  So first using the Preset Shapes tool and the Tool Options window to pick one of PSP's Objects, let's take a look at it and the Object Selector.

I'm using Sphere2.  I've left Retain style and Create as vector checked.  Then I left click on my blank image to add the Sphere.  Take note of the Tool Options window.  Only Properties is active.  There is a reason for that.  But first click on Properties.

That brings up this window.  What shows up is a Fill that looks like a Cutout effect.  That is the vector layer that is automatically active without touching anything.

If I click on the Fill, it brings up the Gradient window and I can change the Gradient.

Let's take a look at the layers that make up the Sphere.  Open the Layer Palette.  Click on the + marks until the full set of layers drops down.  You can highlight another one of the vector layers in order to customize the Object.  So I click on the Circle vector layer.

Ah ha!  The Node Edit is now active.  I could edit the nodes of the Circle vector layer.  I can also change the color of the circle by clicking on Properties.

First I use the Node Edit tool, the Object Selector, to pull out the side of the circle.  Well, now it looks more like a weird egg!  Then I click on Properties and change the red to purple.  I can continue to play with and edit this Object.

The next page concerns both the Node Edit tool and the Preset Shapes tool.  The two just run together!
