The Preset Shapes

If you went over the Object Selector first, you will understand how that tool works along with this tool, the Preset Shapes.  The second page of Object Selector covers how to edit and save a Shape.  So here is the basic info you need to know about the Preset Shapes in PSP7.

Click on the Preset Shapes tool and have your Tool Options window up.  There is a drop down menu with all the pre-made shapes that comes with PSP7.  Some of them are really interesting!  In the Advanced PSP7 classes, you will learn how to use those Shapes very creatively.  If you want the Shape to look like it does in the preview, then be sure to leave Retain style checked.  If you want to be able to edit the Shape, leave Create as vector checked.

After you have place the Shape on your image, you can then edit it.  If you lose the edit lines/box, just click on the Object Selector/Node Editing tool.  While the Object is selected, you can stretch it, rotate it, etc.  See page 2 of the Node Editing/Shapes Editing to learn how to edit different vector layers.

When the Object is the way you want it, Convert to Raster Layer.

What happens if you uncheck Retain style?  It will draw the Object with the selection you have in the Styles boxes.  See the blue Sphere?  I just had the top box set to a solid color, blue.  In the second image of the Sphere, I have both boxes with a solid color.  Notice that the top box is the Stroke and the bottom box is the Fill.
