The Two Selections 1

You will use both the Selection tools often in PSP.  Now granted, only one actually says Selection, but the Freehand is Freehand Selection.  Let's look at the first Selection.  You have a multitude of Selection Types.   The two that I use the most are Rectangle and Circle.  But I can see how it could be interesting to choose the Star type and select a star shape out of an image.

Did you know:  Did you know that you can use the Selection tool in a clever way to select your whole image?  Draw a box around the image you want selected.  Now left click inside the box.  Voila!  This is especially hand for things like text.

I guess one of the most important questions about Selection is when to use Antialias and when not to use it.  Let's say that my clock below has ragged jaggy stuff I want to remove from the top of it to give it a clean look.  Then I would turn off the Antialias.

But if I want a soft look, then I turn Antialias on.

This comes in real handy for jaggy edges on images.  Of course the method used below is actually the Freehand.
See the next page for more on that.
