Mirror, Mirror, Do I Or Don't I?

I'm back to template1 room again.  I've decided I want a fancy stained glass floor.  So I opened the assort01.jpg and tried it using Pattern Fill with the Flood Tool.  Well, that doesn't look good.  I have this line going through the middle of the floor.  I can try something simple like just increasing the size of the stained glass image and flood filling again.

This is better, but what if I want the pattern smaller?

The stained glass image is 400x257 pixels.  If you don't like math, just double the 400 and round off the 257 to 300 to double it.  Create a new image 800x600.  Now copy the stained glass and paste 4 times as a new layer.  Mirror and Flip the last 3 layers so that they match with the design.  Then zoom in to get a good look to make sure you have correctly lined everything up.  If you have, you shouldn't see any lines because the 4 pieces should blend and match perfectly.

Now Merge Visible Layers.  Use the Magic Wand, click on either the top or bottom section.  Hold down the shift key and click on the other section.  Now Invert the SelectionDelete.  Use the Pattern Fill again on your floor for this new image.  I've created an interesting stained glass floor.

Ok, this isn't mirroring, but it is pattern filling and I had a little room left on this page.

Let's use the linoleum pattern, assort20.jpg.  Now this doesn't look bad, but it has no diminishing perspective.  You could settle for this since it pattern fills so nicely.  How about a quick fix?

Copy and paste that filled layer as a new image.  Check how wide it is.  It's 600 pixels wide.  I resize it half again as big to 900 pixels wide.  Copy this and go back to your room.  Undo that pattern fill of the linoleum.  Now paste your newly sized floor selection as a new layer.  Use the deform tool.  Use the option of the trapezoid by holding down the Ctrl key on the keyboard with your cursor over one of the top corner squares.  Now squeeze the layer down some by moving the cursor over the center top square.  Finally, move this layer down.  If you just move it below the baseboard, you can use the Freehand Point to Point to trim any excess.

Now you have gained some distance perspective without much trouble.
