Display Room Tutorial

1. Create a New Rastor Layer.  Name it left wall 1.  *Note: This layer is placed on top of the ceiling and floor layer.
2. Selection Tool -
Make a selection as shown in Diagram 2  below.  You don't have to use an exact size, but keep in mind that everything you do on the left side is going to be mirrored on the right side.
3. Set the foreground color to #BBBBBB and flood fill the selection.
4. Deselect and click on the deform tool.
5. Place your cursor in the upper right corner of the selection.  Press and hold down the Ctrl key.  Above the cursor a trapezoid will appear.
Drag the cross down until your selection resembles the area inside left wall 1 in Diagram 2.   Click on the selection tool again and you will get a promt to apply the deformation.  Say yes.
6. With this layer still active, copy, paste as a new layer and mirror.  Move it over to the right side.
7. You can use the ruler to help you line this up, or you can line everything up when you complete the center wall selection.

The rest of the walls are very easy to do.

Create a new rastor layer and name it left wall 2.  Flood fill it with #CCCCCC.  Copy, paste as a new layer and move it to the right.

Create a new rastor layer and name it left wall 3.  Flood fill it with #BBBBBB.  Once again use the deform tool as above.  Copy, paste as a new layer and mirror.  Move to the right side.

Create a new layer and name it center wall.  Select the area between the right side and the left side.  Flood fill it with #CCCCCC

Now if the two sides are not lined up correctly you can easily move the layers on the right until everything matches.

What if you have a little space where the wall doesn't quite reach the edge?  You can use the deform tool again and use the side squares to stretch a selection.

If you take a few minutes to look over diagram 2 you will realize how this all fits together.  Now wasn't that pretty easy?  Let's add some depth by reflecting two of the walls.

Make the left wall 3 layer active.  Copy and paste as a new layer twice.  Move the first layer copy to the right and match it up with the bottom of the matching wall section.  Make the second layer copy active, mirror it and match it up with the bottom of left wall 3.  Now adjust the opacity on these two layers.  How much depends on how strong you want the reflection to be.  On each adjusted reflection layer, blur them to your own tastes.  The Gaussian Blur works great for this.

Well, I guess it's time we add some things to this room.
