Let's Do Three Hearts Together.

I'm not going to take this through the animation steps.  This will just cover some more detailed tips making 3 hearts differently, taking on different techniques and problems.  The first heart will be the easiest, the third heart the hardest.

I have already done the prep work for these hearts.  I have made the 3 heart setups which include a background layer, heart layer and a base layer.  I have my images picked for each heart too.  The pair of bears was a transparent tube image.  I added a new layer and flood filled it with a beige shade.  Then I moved that layer to the bottom.  Then merged and flattened that image.  For the mouse, I used the wand to select the mouse, then cut and pasted it as a new layer.  I flood filled the white background with lilac.  Going back to the mouse layer, I deleted any other little sections of white.  To then select the whole mouse, draw a box around the mouse with the square Selection tool.  Click inside this box.  That will select all of the mouse.  I did basically the same thing for the kittens, but there were no extra white places to find and delete on the kitten layer.

You may want to download some of these files shown below.  Some of these images are ones that come from Deb and she no longer has them available on the web.  Just click on the following text links that match the images below:

I'm going to assume you followed the other directions and exported your heart/hearts as a tube file.  Then you opened a new image, 400x400.  This will be the background layer.  Add a new layer called heart and apply your heart at 50%.  Use the gold heart with an edge trim.  There is also a drop shadow inside this heart.  Now paste your base on as a new layer.  This is the order of the layers so far.  Note that I have chosen a lilac for the background color.

Make the heart layer active.  Click on the background with the Magic Wand, Tolerance set to 30.  While selected, go to Selections/Modify/Expand.  Expand by 1 pixel.

Now Invert the Selection.  See how the shortcut icons come in handy?  Copy the bears image.  Add a new layer called Image to your 400x400 file.  Go to Edit/Paste/Paste Into Selection.
